The CRE.O.LA project is presenting a competition for design of
objects fitting the topic "The nomad, for nomadic behavior", promoted by Centro
Studi Alessi. The aim of the competition is creation of objects for life in travel.
Minimal projects to help us make a "provisional place" of passing livable. For
eating, for sleeping, for trekking and for vacationing... objects for the environment of
the mutation of self.
Alberto Alessi is chairman of the jury.
Alessi SpA reserves the right to a six month option period on the three winning projects
in order to decide on possible manufacturing, stipulating a specific contract.
Of the remaining projects, the most whorty, according to the unquestionable decision of
the panel, will have three months of virtual exhibition of the alessi online internet
site, together with the three winning projects.
Al projects presented will be listed on the Alessi online site as part of the virtual
summary of the competition.
Participation is open to all.
Groups of designers can participate as well.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF "CREOLA" COMPETITION
The Creola project is now proposing the first on-line Alessi competition for the design of
objects on the theme of "THE NOMAD FOR A NOMADIC ATTITUDE" promoted by the
Alessi design centres.
1. The competition aims at creating objects for life on the move. Basic ideas to help us
render a "makeshift home" in the countryside liveable. For eating, sleeping,
trekking or for accommodation purposes S objects to suit the environments where the ego
mutates.
2. The jury is composed of experts in the sector with the right to one vote each.
3. Total prize money amounts to ITL. 18.000.000, divided as follows:
First prize ITL. 10.000.000
Second prize ITL. 5.000.000
Third prize ITL. 3.000.000
4. Alessi Spa reserves the right to a six-month option in order to reach a decision as to
whether to start production of the objects in question.
Should it decide to do so, a specific agreement will be drawn up for this purpose. Non
prize-winning projects worthy of special mention shall have the right to be publicized
on-line for three months on the Alessi Internet site, together with those of the three
prize winners. All projects presented will be listed in the Alessi site in the report on
the competition.
5. Anybody may participate. Groups of designers may also enter, provided that a project
leader is nominated. The latter shall take all responsibility for the group's work and
shall be the only referent. Members of the jury, employees of Alessi Spa and their
employees are not allowed to enter.
6. The projects presented must be new and original, and developed expressly for this
competition.
7. A maximum of three 3-D colour images may be presented to illustrate each project, with
a brief report attached to describe the aims and characteristics of the project, including
the materials used and any other data held to be useful. Participants shall submit the
project as (an) .jpg/.gif/.mov file(s) not exceeding the length of 1.5 MB. Short videos
may also be submitted instead of the traditional report (Quicktime format).

9. Registration: to enter the competition all you have to do is fill in all parts of the
form below. When you have completed it, press enter: you will receive an e-mail as
confirmation of your entry in the competition your competition code.
10. All projects must be submitted anonymously, distinguished solely by the competition
code, and should be set out in the format shown in the page devoted to the competition
(address to be decided) on the Alessi web site, prior to midnight (Italian time) 31
october 2000. Confirmation of receipt will be sent by e-mail (generated automatically),
which entrants will receive immediately after delivery.
11. Participation in the competition automatically implies acceptance of all conditions
herein set forth. Alessi will publish all results of the competition by 31 december 2000
and will contact the winners via e-mail. All non-prize-winning entrants are entitled to
ask, within 15 days from receipt of results, that their work not be made public.
